Hello friends, it is with great excitement that I come here to announce the release of my latest game and revival of Ringalong Games: TheQuestion's Quest of Sin!
You can read more about this in the Quest of Sin section of the website!
Ringalong Games started as an idea between three friends. We worked quickly on the game and managed to release a fully-functioning demo, however ZeroX was removed from the company for external reasons, yet refused to leave his stake in the company and the game. He held it hostage and refused to allow any more updates to the game.
After 2 long years of back and forth, with Lawyers and courts involved, ZeroX finally backed down and we have full legal rights again. Ian (this is a false name at their request, as they wish to leave this project behind) has left the company in the meantime as we both lost our vision for what we wanted to do: have fun making fun games. I hope everyone moves on to a more hopeful game company, however I will still be mopping up the mess left behind.
Today I am releasing my game as open source, under the GNU license. You can email me at ringalonggames@gmail.com to recieve a copy of the source code for Poor Bird. I had actually lost the source code to time, but luckily someone was nice enough to decompile the released game for the source code -Ring
This is a massive day for me. I can't wait to explain everything to you guys. The past few years, Poor Bird's development was halted due to ZeroX, who refused to give up ownership of their part of the company. I spent way longer than I had hoped on lawyers and now I've racked up a lot of costs, however we've finally settled and I now have complete and total ownership of Ringalong Games & Poor Bird. The game's development dream has been crushed a long time ago, but I am just glad that I did the right thing and didn't let his dirty hands keep the game forever. Sorry we couldn't bring our ideas to the light, but maybe it's for the best. -Ring
I finally got back from my break and I worked all day today to update the game. It isn't a big update, we just edited a few things, removed useless stuff, added in more items and made a new section in the city we'd like to further expand. Check it out on gamejolt here. I also put a poll in the IRC chatroom for you guys to vote whether to keep the site updated or not, beacuse only worrying about the IRC will make things easier on me.
Sorry for the delay, everyone! The demo is now complete and going through launch! You can now download it on the gamejolt page (https://gamejolt.com/games/littlemanbird/435434 if your page doesn't load it). I am also going to take a small break from the game now that the first demo is out so I can focus more on other things such as college as it starts in a week! I also want to mention that it isn't the final demo build and I will release more as more things get done and updated. When the first city is complete the way we like it, we will continue the game from there and there likely won't have any more demos unless there's a need for it. -Ian & Ring
The demo for the game will be ready by tomorrow! The team has been waiting eagerly to get this shown to the world, we got everything ready except the demo boss, which will hopefully not take too long. -Ian & Ring
A lot of progress has been lost on the game, we're currently trying to recover it but we're sad to announce that ZeroX has been removed from the development team following a lot of toxicity, lying, and manipulation on their part. We hope you understand that we are a small team and can't make deadlines when we take massive hits like this. We're both sorry for letting you all down, and will work towards getting our launch date as planned. -Ian & Ring
Hello, just a quick update; the work is being pushed back as we deleted a ton of our work. We didn't feel they were up to the standards we wanted, and thought we can do better. We may have to go back on this for the demo version because we would like a bit of a surprise in the future. On another note, all party members are in the game and it's at a state where it is actually playable now. -ZeroX
Welcome to Poor Bird, this is where our Dev updates will take place. We hired someone to produce some unique songs for our game, and we're getting a lot of progress done very fast. We are all interested to complete this project as a lifelong goal for all of us, and we can't wait to show it off in the upcoming Datalyzers direct, which should be happening sometime in November. Our spritework has also been going very quickly, with several tilesets already being completed. -ZeroX
