Flash games and where they are now!

Ongoing

These are Flash game sites that exist in one way or another.

Nitrome

Nitrome is a Gaming company who makes their own games. Originally they published their games to other sites as was normal at the time, but after their library grew so large, they started hosting it on their very own webpage. This page has Flash & HTML5 games, and is still going on strong today. You can play their games here: https://www.nitrome.com
I play this site to this day, as I am on a Windows Vista and not many other sites support my OS anymore, however it also works fine on TempleOS. I recall there having more games on the site, but perhaps they got delisted for one reason or another.

Favorite games: Skywire, Twin Shot & Bad Ice-Cream.
Pros: Very good quality games, support for a lot of old Operating Systems, no shovelware.
Cons: Not as large of a game library as you'll commonly find, games all have the same artstyle.

Newgrounds

Newgrounds is a site meant to be the all-in-one Internet pit stop. Filled with Games, Art, Movies, Sounds, and everything in between, Newgrounds is not only active, but is thriving even to this day.
I visit this site fairly often, even outside of the games I still lurk the site for their creative works. It is a breath of fresh air to me and is consistently a gush of inspiration to work on my own works. I have to really thank the Newgrounds site for making my life complete.
The site also developped Ruffle & Newgrounds Player, which allows you to play all Flash games even if your browser doesn't support it anymore, and allows you to save progress on games & play them locally.

Favorite games: Dad 'N' Me, Riddle School & Infectonator
Pros: Has a lot of content, incredibly active, very creative game
Cons: Has a ton of adult stuff, makes it hard to justify letting kids near it.

Y8

Y8 is a site that mostly reposts(ed) games from Miniclip, however nowadays it pushes HTML5 games. These games are not very good, they seem to all be different variations of one game where you pick boogers out of some Disney character's nose.
The site used to be well-known with copies ranging from y1 to y12 which itselves had even more games to play, however I don't think I can see any positives to the webpage anymore.
Even searching up games I used to play back in the day, I don't get the results of the games I wanted, only the shovelware games I mentioned earlier. It's sad to see the death of a site, it's even worse to see the undead corpse of one.

Favorite games: None.
Pros: None.
Cons: All games are shovelware copy pastes of eachother, the site's layout is not good, and it keeps pushing you to log in.

Discontinued

These are popular Flash game sites that no longer exist or are no longer functional by-default.

Miniclip

Miniclip used to be one of my favorite sites for Flash games. It allowed anyone to upload their games, which turned it into a place for creative minds to make the best games possible. I've spent thousands of hours on this website when I was younger.

Currently, Miniclip shut down their sites and operates solely on Mobile games. This is expected, as the Miniclip company was purchased by the Communist Chinese Party's Tencent conglomerate flaming shit pile, which continues to turn all modern/western ways of life into garbage spyware meant to harvest your data for the profits and PIs in China.
Even if I HAD a phone, I would NEVER play a Miniclip game, they do not deserve my support, and I hope you don't either.

Andkon

Andkon Arcade is one of the largest Flash game sites, which has sadly not grown their library since 2012. Despite this, they have more than enough games that has justified years worth of playing.
Their site is still up, however due to the death of Flash, them not adapting Ruffle, and the lack of games added since 2012, I think it is acceptable to declare this web page "Dead", though if you can follow their convoluted mess of a Guide.

Despite this, I feel like I should leave this on a positive note. Andkon Arcade was my favorite webpage to visit for nearly a decade, and I can't stress enough how much fun I had there. All their games were quality, ad-free and just plain awesome. I appreciate the work Andkon has done for me growing up and wish the owner(s) of the webpage the best.
